Water Treatment & Reverse Osmosis Membranes

The use of reverse osmosis membranes in the water treatment industry is a standardized practice due to the need for filtration to remove unwanted impurities from water. Membrane water treatment is achieved through the use of barriers that allow only specific substances to pass through the small pores of the membrane while blocking other types of contaminants. A variety of membranes are used across the market to treat groundwater, surface water, and wastewater to levels acceptable for industries and, more importantly, for consumption. This is a rapidly growing industry driven by the need to address low-quality water sources, such as rivers, lakes, wells, streams, and the ocean, to provide alternative methods for supplying healthy, safe, steady, and accessible water to the masses.

As mentioned, there are different types of membranes that can be utilized for water treatment. The selection of the most effective membrane depends on the types of contaminants present in the water and the desired water quality outcomes for the user.
